Final Event of this Season Features Amish Expert Donald Kraybill
Donald Kraybill, internationally recognized authority on the Amish tradition and author of best-selling Amish Grace: How Forgiveness Transcended Tragedy, will speak on “Faith & Forgiveness: Finding Grace in Tragedy” on Friday, April 17, 2009, at 7:00 p.m. at St. Philip the Deacon Lutheran Church, 17205 County Road Six, Plymouth, 55447. The event is free and open to the public.
Kraybill’s award-winning and best-selling Amish Grace recounts how the Amish community in Nickel Mines, Pennsylvania, were quick to forgive a man who shot ten of their young children, execution style, in October 2006. View a short Bill Moyers video about the book here.
Kraybill’s research and commentary have been featured in publications and programs throughout the United States and abroad, including the film The Power of Forgiveness. He has authored or co-authored numerous books on Amish and Anabaptist life and culture, including Horse and Buggy Mennonites: Hoofbeats of Humility in a Postmodern World and The Upside Down Kingdom, recipient of the National Religious Book Award. Kraybill currently serves as Distinguished College Professor and Senior Fellow in the Young Center for Anabaptist and Pietist Studies at Elizabethtown College in Pennsylvania.
