Starting in September 2009, and running through May 2010, St. Philip the Deacon will embark on a year-long journey to read what we're calling "100 Necessary Bible Readings" in our worship together. These readings will walk us through the entire Bible -- from Genesis all the way through Revelation. Each week, we will lift up five Bible passages that reflect a particular theme -- for example, "In the Beginning," which will include five readings from Genesis. We will focus on one of these passages during our worship together. This effort is part of our partnership with the ELCA's Book of Faith initiative, designed to make us more fluent in the language of Scripture, so that we might live more fully into our callings as people renewed, enlivened, empowered, and sent by God's Word. Readings for the entire year are indicated below. For festival weekends, including Christmas, Easter and Lent, we will use the appointed Lectionary readings.
