The Faith & Life Lecture Series—a community service of St. Philip the Deacon—exists to create public forums where people from the larger Twin Cities community can hear nationally known speakers reflect on how Christian faith is intersects with different dimensions of everyday life. Thanks to the generosity of corporate and individual sponsors, all Faith & Life events are entirely free and open to the public.
Begun in 2003, Faith & Life events have featured theologians, inspirational speakers and best-selling authors. Past speakers include:
- Jonathan Reckford, Habitat for Humanity
- Rick Steves, PBS travel expert
- Dr. Timothy Johnson, ABC News Medical Editor
- Gregory Boyle, Jesuit priest, author and activist
- Bob Goff, best-selling author
- Eric Metaxas, best-selling author
- Brené Brown, nationally renowned speaker and author
The lectures last about 50 minutes, followed by a brief period for Q&A after the presentation by the speaker. After the Q&A, speakers are generally available for one-on-one discussion with members of the audience during an informal reception. At most lectures, material by the speaker or related to the lecture subject—books, CDs, or artwork—is available for sale.
