Faith & Life Features Richard Stearns March 18

Richard Stearns, president of World Vision, will speak on “Faith & World View: Is There a Hole in Our Gospel?” on Friday, March 18, 2011, at 7:00 p.m. at St. Philip the Deacon Lutheran Church, 17205 County Road Six, Plymouth, MN 55447. His talk is part of the 2010-2011 Faith & Life Lecture Series, and the event is free and open to the public.

Stearns joined World Vision in 1998 after a quarter-century business career, guiding the Christian relief and development organization to unprecedented growth. Under his leadership, World Vision has become one of the largest nonprofit organizations in the United States, serving close to 100 million people in nearly 100 countries around the world. A Christian humanitarian organization, World Vision is dedicated to working with children, families and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice. Stearns chronicles his journey from corporate CEO to advocate for those affected by poverty and injustice in his book, The Hole in Our Gospel, which has become an international best-seller. The book challenges readers to view the gospel as more than a private transaction between God and us.

The Faith & Life Lectures are open and welcoming public forums where nationally known speakers reflect on how Christian faith intersects with different dimensions of everyday life. Visit www.faith-and-life.org for more information, or call 763-475-7136 or e-mail info@faith-and-life.org.
