First Communion

First Communion

Through the sacrament of Holy Communion, Christians have given thanks to God ever since Jesus first shared this sacred meal with the disciples.  Holy Communion is the Body and Blood of Christ given and shed for you. Our sins are forgiven, and our daily lives are nourished through this wonderful meal.

A family-centered workshop to prepare children in grades 2 through 5 for the reception of their first communion is offered three times per year. Children and their parents make the decision when to enroll. Generally, children are ready for instruction when they start asking questions about their faith and Holy Communion.

If you receive Holy Communion in your home congregation you are welcome to receive Holy Communion at St. Philip the Deacon. Holy Communion is celebrated each Saturday, the first Sunday of the month, Festival of the Lord Sundays as well as Mondays following Communion Sundays.
