Journey Through Lent 2009 - Including Photo Gallery

Journey Through LentLent is a time of reflection and introspection, when we allow ourselves to focus on Christ's life, His death and the grace and freedom given to us. Our Journey through Lent 2009 is designed to use conversation, reflection and worship to awaken you to the ways that God is revealed to you each day.

We've invited people to submit photos that show something of how God is found in the ordinary and everyday. You can submit these photos to spdlcjourneyphotos@gmail.com, and view them at this gallery.

Ash Wednesday, February 25: I Love to Tell the Story: A Work in Progress
March 4: Hearing the Story
March 11: The Story Begins to Take Shape
March 18: Seeing the Story Unfold
March 25: Revealing the Story: Show and Tell
April 1: Responding to the Story

The Schedule

Starting on March 4 -- the week after Ash Wednesday -- supper will be offered in two locations.
Soup: 5:45 - 6:45  |  Fellowship Hall
Soup & Pizza: 5:45 - 6:45  |  Center for Faith & Life
You may eat in either location, but Pizza will only be served in the CFL

Worship: 7:00 p.m.  |  Sanctuary

During our worship on Wednesday evenings, we have invited 6 artists to help us explore the ways God is making himself known to us. We will take a front row seat to watch the creative process unfold. From oil painting to song writing to a multimedia production, and more, we are journeying into the unknown and trusting the Spirit to awaken us. Our artists are:

Tyler Hawkinson   -  pen/ink artist
Kristine Houtman  -  mixed media
Linda Wrobel & John Roth  -  singer/songwriter
Gail Speckmann  -  painter and poet
Tim Westermeyer   -  multimedia designer

The Scripture

We have selected a wonderful story from the New Testament as our primary text. On Wednesday, March 4 you will have the opportunity to encounter the story through Lectio Divina, an ancient practice of intentional listening and prayer. Each week after that we will read the story again and listen to its words and wonder together what God intends to reveal to us.

Worship

Our liturgy will use the Holden Evening Prayer and also incorporate art, movement, guest speakers and special music. Worship is at 7:00 p.m. Child care will be available for those families with young children.

Additionally, look for. . .

Devotionals. A devotional booklet to use at home will be at the Hospitality Desk on Ash Wednesday and throughout Lent.
Prayer Stations. Three different prayer stations each week will offer hands-on, experiential ways to pray.
Personal Prayer. Members of our healing prayer group will pray individually -- and confidentially -- for you.
Hymn Sing. Gather to sing hymns loved and requested by the people in the group.
Get Involved. Share your experiences of the sacred by capturing moments with your phone or camera and submitting photos to spdlcjourneyphotos@gmail.com. We'll add them to a gallery at www.spdlc.org.
