Journey Through Lent 2011: Gather Around the Table

Following is information about our Journey through Lent 2011: Gather Around the Table.

LENTEN READ

Last fall we read Remember Who You Are by William Willimon and together we explored the sacrament of Holy Baptism.  His book Sunday Dinner explores the sacrament of Holy Communion and its meaning for every day. Copies are available at the Upper Level Hospitality Desk for $10 while supplies last.

HOLY COMMUNION BLOG

You are invited to write about your communion experiences and share them on our Communion Blog.  Submissions should be made to cmathison@spdlc.org by March 1 and may include images. All ages are welcome to write. Suggested topics include:

  • Recall an early Communion memory:  Write about your first communion or that of a child
  • Describe a memorable celebration of the Sacrament of Holy Communion:  What made it memorable?  The place?  The occasion?  The participants?
  • Tell how Communion informs your daily life
  • Reflect on the experience of daily communion:  What parts of the sacrament take on new meaning?  How does daily communion sustain you?

Be sure to include a title for your blog and your name how you would like it to appear in the blog (first name only or first and last name). Some of the Blog contributions may be read aloud as part of our midweek Lenten worship.

LENTEN STUDY GROUP

Under the leadership of Emily Wiles, a student at Luther Seminary in St. Paul who is preparing for her M.
