Lake Wobegon® Brass Band at St. Philip Friday, October 7 at 7:30 p.m.

Lake Wobegon Brass BandThe Lake Wobegon® Brass Band from Anoka, MN, will perform at St. Philip the Deacon Lutheran Church on Friday, October 7 at 7:30 p.m. in the church Sanctuary. The concert is a free public event, and no tickets are required. A free will offering will be taken.

The program, which celebrates the Band's 20th anniversary, will include William Himes’ “Cause for Celebration,” “Paganini Variations,” “Surrey with the Fringe on Top” from the Broadway musical “Oklahoma,” and the Overture to Henry V, as well as other numbers.

The band was formed in 1922 to showcase the unique sound and style of the British brass band's instrumentation, and is now in its 20th season. The band has toured the United Kingdom on two occasions, and gave the first-ever performance by an American brass band at the 120th Sandringham Flower Show Royal Estate.

On July 4, 2009, the band played for Garrison Keillor during the 35th anniversary of his nationally broadcast show, "A Prairie Home Companion."
