2017 Lenten Theme: “At Home with God”
Martin Luther wrote the Small Catechism for use at home, so that parents could explain the most important tenets of the Christian faith to their children. Using a simple method of question and answer, the Small Catechism covers the Ten Commandments, The Apostles Creed, The Lord’s Prayer, Baptism and Communion. First published in 1529, these teachings on the basics of our faith continue to inspire and guide Christian households almost 500 years later.

After Ash Wednesday, the following five Wednesdays will include a simple soup supper served from 5:30-6:45 p.m., followed by worship at 7 p.m. Each week we will examine a different topic from the Small Catechism. Download a PDF of our Lenten Theme schedule.

A daily devotional, Free Indeed, and a copy of Luther’s Small Catechism will be available to pick up on Ash Wednesday, March 1 for use throughout the forty days of Lent. You can also download a free Small Catechism app from the ELCA for your mobile device.
