At St. Philip the Deacon, we take seriously God's call to care for all of God's children -- whether across the street, in the city, or around the world. Some of the ways we strive to fufill this call in our own local area are listed below.
Sharing and Caring Hands - Breakfast
Each month SPD helps to serve breakfast at Sharing and Caring Hands. Saturdays at 8:45 a.m., meeting at Sharing and Caring Hands.
Families Moving Forward
Quarterly
Families Moving Forward is an interfaith network of churches that provide hope to homeless families with children. Once each quarter, SPD is host to families who spend a week at the church. Individuals from the church provide food for lunch, prepare and serve dinner and breakfast, serve as overnight hosts, launder linens, and play with children. We will be hosting guests the weeks of September 14-21 and December 7-14.

with their congregation, we support the following outreach ministries in the community:

Our Saviour’s Shelter
4th Tuesday of the month
Each month, we serve dinner to approximately 50men at Our Saviour’s Shelter in South Minneapolis. As a congregation, we provide, prepare and serve the following dinner each month:
Dinty Moore stew, meatballs, rolls, milk, orange juice, canned fruit, coffee and cookies.
Meals on Wheels

Members of SPD deliver hot meals in the Wayzata/Plymouth area for Meals on Wheels. We will be providing drivers again for the month of November.
The opportunities to share God’s love are endless. How is God calling you?
The outreach ministries highlighted above are some of the ministries that go on throughout the year, regardless of vacation or holiday schedules. In addition, there are many other ways for you to share your gift of time and talents. For instance: Serve as a small group leader for Faith Creek, Confirmation or Adult Learning Ministry – Be a Worship Assistant (usher, communion server, Altar Guild) – Help in the Childcare Center, host the coffee on Sunday morning or participate in the blood drive – Bake Christmas cookies for college students or prison inmates.
Watch the Partners in the Gospel insert in the weekly worship folder, or contact Pastor Strand Patterson,
Cindy Carlson, or the church office if you would like more information regarding ways to share in ministry.
