Register for Trip to Colombia by December 1

Registration is now open for St. Philip the Deacon’s trip to Colombia in February 2012 with Opportunity International. The trip will be from Sunday, February 12 through Saturday, February 18, and will include visits to both Bogota and Cartagena to see first-hand how our partnership with Opportunity International is transforming lives through micro-loans.

The estimated cost of the trip is $2,937. This includes:
  • a $2,167 program fee to Opportunity International, which includes all meals and beverages (excluding alcohol), local transportation, translator services, emergency insurance, partner and staff costs; and
  • travel to and from Colombia, which participants will book on their own, and which we anticipate will cost around $770.
To register:
  • By December 1, Contact Susana Georgescu in Opportunity’s international education department at sgeorgescu@opportunity.org or 630-242-4127 to let her know you plan to go on this trip. You can download a registration form here. You will be asked to pay for the entire program cost of the trip when you register. NOTE: The program cost of the trip reflects a $150 discount for registrations completed before December 1. If there are still openings after December 1, the program cost of the trip will increase to $2,600.

  • Later this year – after all trip registrants have registered – make your travel arrangements. Opportunity International will contact you to let you know when you can start booking your travel. If you require booking assistance, contact Opportunity’s preferred travel partner, Travel Inc., at 877-548-2995.

  • Prepare for departure. Make sure your passport is valid for at least six months after your intended departure date. Visit www.vp2go.com for assistance in obtaining a passport. Consult your doctor for any necessary immunizations and vaccines. For a traveler’s health clinic near you, go to www.cdc.gov/travel.
