Middle School Ministries

Service Hours

Each Confirmation student is required to complete 15 hours of service each year, or 45 hours during the course of the 3-year confirmation program.

Service-learning is very important for several reasons: it provides the opportunity for students to actively serve others; it broadens students’ perspectives by exposing them to different kinds of needs in our community and world, and it helps the church to live into the command to love our neighbors.  Service opportunities might include working at a food shelf, visiting a nursing home, doing a clean-up project at a park, helping with Vacation Bible School, or participating in a mission trip or service day.

In order to assist students with their hours, the middle school ministry will provide several opportunities throughout the year to engage in service.  To receive credit for church-related service hours, students must be sure to register for and complete the project.

Service hours may include projects organized by Wednesday night small groups, family service projects or individual tasks.  It is greatly encouraged that families volunteer together for at least 5 hours each year.  It is our hope that each student will find something that they are passionate about that inspires them to continue serving well beyond confirmation and their service hours requirement.  Simply fill in the number of hours, organization/description of the project and have your parent sign off on the service hours log to receive credit.  Completed service logs can be turned in to Amanda Berger at any time.
