"Let Your Light Shine" Capital Appeal
Every three years, St. Philip the Deacon embarks on a capital appeal campaign. We do this not only to be good stewards of our building and pay down our mortgage, but also to benefit our local and global ministries. The "Let Your Light Shine" capital appeal reflects three of the core values of our congregation: Hospitality, Generosity and Faithfulness.
Accommodate continued growth by making the church’s physical plant more welcoming and hospitable. The side Chapel, along with the our most important hospitality spaces—west Atrium, Fellowship Hall and Kitchen—have been refurbished. Generously share the gifts God has given us with our sisters and brothers in Colombia, through Opportunity International, and in North Minneapolis, through our partnership with Redeemer Center for Life.
Faithfully manage our mortgage, freeing up more resources for mission and ministry in the future. A new art installation featuring a bronze statue of St. Philip the Deacon reminds us that we are called to faithfully follow in the footsteps of our congregation's namesake, and also symbolizes our commitment, hope and faith in the future of our ministry together.
Our prayer is that all of our members will continue to participate in this opportunity to strengthen our future ministry. We invite you to ask for God’s guidance in your giving decisions, and faithfully participate in this ongoing campaign as an expression of thanksgiving and love for God’s presence and goodness in your life. Thank you for your partnership in the Gospel!

“This appeal gives us the opportunity to give thanks to God, celebrate our past, and embrace this next chapter in the life and evolution of our congregation. With confidence and trust that God is leading and guiding our faith community, we pray you will join us as we joyfully and boldly step into this future.”

“From the first day we entered the doors of St. Philip the Deacon, our family has been touched by this inviting and welcoming church. From the pastors to the staff to the countless volunteers that teach and nourish our family’s faith, we have been reminded again and again of the importance of creating a welcoming and hospitable community. Romans 12:13 reminds us to “share with those in need, be hospitable.” This appeal allows us to joyfully and generously respond to that invitation. We are thrilled to be part of it, and invite you to join us in supporting this important work.”

“St. Philip the Deacon’s reach extends far beyond our immediate faith community. Our support of Opportunity International advances their mission of providing microfinance loans, savings, insurance and training to over five million people working their way out of poverty in the developing world. OI’s mission gives people the dignity of work and the ability to become economically self-sufficient. We saw first-hand the impact your gifts make when we traveled to Colombia during our last appeal, and we are glad to be continuing that work through this appeal. Please know: Your gifts will absolutely transform lives. Thank you."
