In 2008, St. Philip the Deacon Lutheran Church celebrates it 50th anniversary. As we celebrate this important milestone, we honor those who began this community of faith, celebrate God's guidance over the last five decades, and remember how we are called to continue to Reach Out, Proclaim, and Inspire for the next century.
We will celebrate our 50th with a number of activities in the fall of 2008, including:
Sunday, Sept. 21st, 2:00 p.m.: An outdoor Blessing of the Animals service at St. Philip the Deacon, weather permitting.
Thursday, Sept. 25, 7:00 p.m.: The start of the 2008-2009 Faith & Life Lecture Series, featuring Dr. Timothy Johnson, Medical Editor of ABC News, and regular guest on Good Morning America, 20/20, Nightline and World News Tonight.
Sunday, Sept. 28th, 2:00 p.m.: Our 50th Anniversary Celebration Service and reception, honoring charter members and featuring former pastors.
Tuesday, October 21st through Sunday, October 26th: An on-site, multi-day service event for members and friends of St. Philip the Deacon to pack 500,000 meals for locally based non-profit Feed My Starving Children.
