St. Philip the Deacon Packs 500,000 Meals for Starving Children

As part of its 50th anniversary celebration, St. Philip the Deacon is packing 500,000 meals for local Christian non-profit Feed My Starving Children.

More than 2,000 volunteers from the church, local schools, and the broader community will volunteer during two-hour shifts from Tuesday, October 21 through Sunday, October 26 to assemble the meals. Volunteers will mix and pack the raw ingredients – rice, soy, vitamins, minerals, chicken flavoring and dehydrated vegetables – into small bags. These bags, each containing six meals, are in turn boxed up and will be sent to one of the more than 50 countries around the world where Feed My Starving Children has local distribution partners.

This packing session is being made possible through the generous support of the Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Foundation, and the generosity of members of St. Philip the Deacon.
