Survey for Baby Boomers: "Living Your Retirement Years on Purpose"

St. Philip the Deacon is working to help Baby Boomers think about and plan for how to live their lives “On Purpose” during their retirement years.

As Life Enrichment Consultant Paula Frakes says, “Retirement is the beginning of an exciting new phase of life, not the end of life.” She notes that retirees have much to give back and contribute to their communities and the world, but need to make sure they intentionally find “opportunities to grow in areas of their lives that not only help them to live their lives with purpose and meaning, but also afford them opportunities to give back to their friends and family, the church and broader community.”

To help us better understand how we can be a resource for people reflecting on their retirement years, St. Philip the Deacon is conducting a survey among Baby Boomers. The survey will help us understand what Boomers are interested in learning about as it relates to retirement, as well as how best to deliver and present this kind of material and information.

The survey is only 16 questions long and takes approximately 10- 15 minutes to complete.

Please click here to take the survey now, or pick up a hard copy of the survey at the Welcome Counters.

Please complete the survey electronically -- or return a hard copy of the survey to the church -- by October 9.

If you have any questions about this initiative, or would like to discuss it further, please contact Pastor David Hoffman at dhoffman@spdlc.org.

“A 21st century retirement includes a new definition of success, and requires us to look at the long forgotten dreams that may have been in our hearts all along. A 21st century retirement includes a new definition of success, and a resurgence of a dream that may have been within us all along. For most of us, work gives a sense of ego-security, knowing that we are “somebody,” that we are successful, at least at some level. When we look towards retirement, we look for a new formula for success, and we have to dream up new challenges, and find new meaning.” – Chantelle Thessner
