Congratulations on your engagement. We hope to be helpful to you as you prepare for your wedding, and welcome your questions. We have included some basic information about weddings at St. Philip the Deacon below to give you a sense of what to expect if you choose to conduct your wedding service here.
By choosing to be married in the church, you are asking God’s blessings on your relationship. You want to begin your life together in praise and thanksgiving to God. We will be asking that God be a full partner in your life together.
At the service, scripture will be read, the gospel of Jesus proclaimed and the music will reflect a service of worship.
Readings are normally from the Scriptures.
The presiding pastor at the wedding service, in consultation with the organist, will provide advice and direction for you.
Wedding parties who choose to be married at St. Philip the Deacon agree that:
- There shall be no confetti, rice, rose petals or any other objects used on church property.
- The use of any outside decorations must be approved by the presiding pastor. A damage deposit may be required.
- No alcohol is permitted on church property.
- Refreshments for the wedding party may be served only in the Fellowship Hall.
- Saturday weddings must conclude (all guests have left the building) by 4:00 p.m.
- Music should be appropriate to a worship service, celebrating life in Christ and selected in consultation with the presiding pastor and the organist.
